BULLETIN

From the Prez

Greetings, fellow Rotarians.

Thanks to Rebecca's efforts, we are embarking on a newsletter. This will keep our members and friends connected to the club between meetings. Our format allows a lot of time for each of us to impact our community and the world in the gaps between meetings. Please let Rebecca or myself know what you are doing so we can
update others.

I have recently travelled to Denver and participated in the Rocky Mountain PETS. I learned a lot and am trying to get up to speed as quickly as possible. Thank you to all of you who have helped me and been patient with helping me learn.

I encourage your input on what we can do to make the club perform the way you want it to. Membership, fundraising, and participation are all necessary. Thoughts and ideas to help us grow are welcomed. We have a solid foundation set by those already in the club. Your efforts are visible and extraordinary. Let’s build on this and make the club a place where all of us use  that energy to do what Rotarians do; make the world a better place.

We're moving forward at VOSP!

The dictionary project is complete.  Many thanks to all of you who stickered and delivered the books, and especially to John, who does such a great job organizing the project.

Tom and Rebecca are working with Principal Santina Carrillo at Desert Spirit Elementary on a peace-themed essay contest, which will be held in April. We expect to award small prizes to the top three eighth grade students. Please let us know if you'd like to get involved.

Ken and the board have completed a revision of the Club's bylaws.  They'll be sent out to everyone for comment ahead of a vote at our next meeting.

Tom H has graciously agreed to serve as the club's Speaker Chair.  Please let him know if you have ideas about great meeting programs.

We still need a Service Projects Chair.  Though we don't do many of our own projects, part of our mission is to participate in the work of other clubs.  We need someone to keep and distribute a list so we can all be aware of what's happening.

Patrick is interviewing two candidates for TRVFA (The Rotary Vocational Fund of AZ) scholarships this weekend.  If we decide to sponsor one or both of them, there is no cost to us.  Timing is tight this time, but be sure to let him know if you'd like to get involved in the next round of interviews, time TBA.

Ken and Ali attended Grants Management Training (GMT) last Wednesday.  This completes one important requirement to qualify the club to apply for a District Grant.  There's lots of support for repeating the dictionary project, but we should consider a second application.  Please bring your ideas to Marco. Application deadline is May 31.

Marco and Rebecca will be attending Club Leadership Academy (CLA) March 23.  There's still time to register.  https://tinyurl.com/5f6ks5ws

Ken and Fran, Marco and Rebecca will be going to District Conference In Rocky Point May 2-5.  Registration Link:  https://rotary5495.org/page/2023-05-01-district-conference
