* The Club Board met after the regular club meeting. Ken gave us a treasurer's report. The board voted to sponsor two RYLA delegates in honor of our district governor's visit in November at $450 each. The board also voted to send $250 to support IT Education for Afghani Students, especially girls. We're considering a virtual 5k walk as a fundraiser.
* As always, service projects and events organized by other district 5495 clubs are listed here and in the calendar section of the website. Please let Rebecca know if you have something to add.
Foundation History
At the 1917 convention, outgoing Rotary president Arch Klumph proposed setting up an endowment “for the purpose of doing good in the world.” That one idea, and an initial contribution of $26.50, set in motion a powerful force that has transformed millions of lives around the globe.
Dear Valley of the Sun Rotary Passport Members,
By the time you read this, we will have heard Mary Zongolowicz speak to us about
our District’s Friendship Exchange Program. What an exciting opportunity this is,
and I hope several of us will be able to participate.
Next month, our regular November 11 meeting on zoom is cancelled. In its place
we are having an in-person meeting at my house on November 21th at 4 pm. We
will have dinner. We will also have 2 speakers. Our own Zuri Torres will be speaking to us about RYLA. Also, DG, Joe Sweeney will be speaking to us and making some presentations. What a great opportunity for us all to meet in person and hear about RYLA and have the honor of our District Governor being present. If any of you need to carpool to that meeting, please let me know and I will try to
match people close to specific locations. In December, our speaker will be the Executive Director of GiGi’s Playhouse. This is a program for children and adults with Downs Syndrome. At the end, after Chris Mays speaks, we will hear from of one of their participants. There are many
volunteer opportunities for Rotarians. Please check the district calendar for upcoming events in which we can all
participate. Also, check out the details about the RI convention in Barcelona in June. Many wonderful opportunities for all Rotarians. If you have not RSVP'd for November, please do so as soon as possible. Thank you and have a wonderful month!
